Brussels, Jan 24 - Feb 6 2026
Brussels is about to welcome 8000+ open source enthusiasts the weekend of January 31st February 1st 2026 for the FOSDEM.
We would love to take the opportunity to create an "Open Source Village" at the Commons Hub Brussels. A place where open source contributors can co-work for free, host workshops, and meet each other.
Itβs something that we did already for the web3 community back in July 2024. Here is a short video recap:
This is a warm invitation to invite you to co-create this Open Source Village. It literally "takes a village" and we would love you to be part of it.
How do we parent in this digital age? What are the open source tools at our disposal for the education of our kids?
There is no village without houses. How can we build more sustainable houses and keep housing cheap so that everyone can stay in the village?
We need things. Sometimes they break, resources are limited. How do we build open source things that are easy to repair?
No democracy without freedom of speech. How do we build our own stack where the algorithms are here to serve our communities, not just the market?
It takes a village. We canβt do it alone. How do we rebuild our communities? What are the tools to manage them? Open source tooling for managing communities
How do we allocate the resources in our communities in an open and transparent way? How do we make sure our economy is in the service of the wellbeing of the community?
We have set up a discord where we can continue the conversation: https://discord.gg/uc6vKeEtER
We will organise regular calls and report important updates in the announcements channel.
Weekly heartbeat call every Tuesday 10am on Discord.
